Niacinamide
Bullsh*t or not?
Let’s find out. We’re checking every claim, one by one.
To save you time, we’ve added screenshots of the most important study results.
You’ll find all sources at the bottom of this article.
It is the undisputed king of skincare. But does Niacinamide actually help your hair grow? Here’s the deal:
✅ Increases hair fullness and density
✅ Reduces scalp inflammation (a major cause of shedding)
✅ Boosts cellular energy (NAD+) to wake up dormant follicles
Sounds good — but does it actually work?
What does Niacinamide really do for your hair?
Most people use it for acne, but your scalp is skin. Niacinamide acts as a fuel source and a calming agent for your follicles:
✔ Prevents Follicle Exhaustion (NAD+)
Niacinamide is a precursor to NAD+, the molecule that gives your cells energy. Growing hair requires massive energy; without NAD+, follicles go "dormant" (Telogen phase).
✔ Boosts Micro-Circulation
It has a mild vasodilating effect (like Minoxidil), opening up blood vessels to deliver oxygen and nutrients to the hair root.
✔ Stops "Scalp Stress"
Inflammation causes the scalp tissue to harden (fibrosis), eventually killing the follicle. Niacinamide is a potent anti-inflammatory that keeps the tissue soft and healthy.
What does the science say?
📌 2005 – The Female Pattern Alopecia Study
A pilot study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology (Draelos et al.) tested topical Niacin derivatives on women with hair loss.
The result: The Niacinamide group saw a statistically significant increase in hair fullness compared to the placebo.

📌 2021 – Blocking the "Shedding Signal"
A groundbreaking study (Choi et al.) discovered a new mechanism. They found that Niacinamide prevents premature shedding by down-regulating a protein called **DKK-1**.
DKK-1 is known to force hair follicles into the regression phase (catagen). By blocking this signal and protecting cells from oxidative stress, Niacinamide keeps hair in the growth phase for longer.

How should you actually use it?
Using your face serum on your head? It might be too sticky.
You need a formula designed to penetrate the thicker skin of the scalp without making your roots greasy.
What does work?
👉 Leave-in Scalp Treatments:
Niacinamide needs time to absorb. A shampoo won't do much. You need a serum that stays on the scalp.
👉 Combine with Stimulants:
Niacinamide provides the energy (NAD+) and health, while ingredients like Caffeine provide the "push." They work in synergy.
Verdict: does Niacinamide work?
✅ Yes. It works by fixing the fundamental health of the follicle. But Niacinamide is just the fuel; you still need the engine.
Our take?
For real regrowth, Niacinamide shouldn't work alone. That’s why our KÁDESO Grow Serum doesn't just rely on one thing.
We combine Niacinamide with the heavy hitters: Saw Palmetto (to block DHT), Capilia Longa™ (to reboot the follicle), and Caffeine (for energy). We use the highest quality ingredients at their exact, scientifically proven dosages—creating a unique mechanism that attacks hair loss from every angle.
➡️ Want to try it yourself? At least you’ll know you’re using something backed by real science.
