Melatonin

Melatonin

Bullsh*t or not?

Let’s find out. We’re checking every claim, one by one.

To save you time, we’ve added screenshots of the most important study results.
You’ll find all sources at the bottom of this article.

You know it as the "sleep hormone." But for your hair? It might just be the most underrated growth signal we have. Here’s why:

✅ Significantly extends the Anagen (growth) phase of the hair

✅ A more potent antioxidant than Vitamin C and E

✅ Protects follicles from oxidative stress and aging

Sounds good — but does it actually work?

What does Melatonin really do for your hair?

Forget about pills and drowsiness. We are talking about topical application. Your hair follicles have specific Melatonin receptors (MT1 and MT2), and stimulating them does three massive things:

Extends the "Growth Clock"
Melatonin regulates the circadian rhythm of your body, but it also regulates the hair cycle. It delays the "shedding phase" (Telogen), keeping hair growing for months longer than usual.

Neutralizes Oxidative Stress
Balding scalps are under constant attack from "free radicals" (oxidative stress). Melatonin is a "suicidal antioxidant"—it sacrifices itself to neutralize these threats, protecting the follicle from dying.

Anti-Androgenic Effect
Topical melatonin has been shown to modulate androgen receptors, helping to shield the hair root from hormonal damage.

What does the science say?

📌 2004 – The Pilot Study (Fischer et al.)

This is the study that changed everything. Researchers applied a 0.0033% Melatonin solution to the scalps of 40 women with hair loss (Androgenetic and Diffuse Alopecia).

The result: The group using Melatonin saw a significantly increased Anagen (growth) rate. The hair stopped falling out and stayed in the growth phase.

📌 2012 – The Large Scale Confirmation
A follow-up review (Fischer et al.) analyzed results from multiple studies involving over 1,800 patients.

They confirmed that topical melatonin is a viable treatment for Androgenetic Alopecia in both men and women, citing its unique ability to fight oxidative stress while stimulating the anagen phase.

How should you actually use it?

Taking sleep gummies? Won't help your hair.
Oral melatonin is metabolized by the liver and puts you to sleep. It doesn't reach the scalp in high enough concentrations.

What does work?

👉 Topical Application Only:
You need to apply it directly to the scalp. Don't worry, topical melatonin doesn't enter the bloodstream significantly, so it won't make you drowsy during the day.

👉 The "Night Shift" Partner:
While you sleep, your body repairs itself. Using a serum with Melatonin at night creates the perfect environment for follicle regeneration.

Verdict: does Melatonin work?

✅ Yes. It is arguably the most powerful antioxidant available for the scalp, with proven ability to extend the hair growth cycle.

Our take?
Melatonin handles the "timing" and "protection" of the hair. But to reverse hair loss, you need a complete team.

That is why KÁDESO Grow Serum uses a multi-pathway approach. We combine Melatonin with the heavy hitters: Saw Palmetto (to block DHT), Capilia Longa™ (to reactivate the root), and Caffeine (for energy). By using these ingredients together at their proven clinical dosages, we create a synergy that no single ingredient can match.

➡️ Want to try it yourself? At least you’ll know you’re using something backed by real science.
